Ok so this is one of my favorite "local" urban legends conserning the first DQ. My friend Terry whom I was introduced to DQ claimes or claimed that he beat the green dragon at lv9 with the hand axe, large shield and half plate as well as 6 herbs. Now I didnt believe him and he still hasnt proved it but because of this I always find myself attempting to do the same. And I die  I doubt it's possible but never the less it is a personal quest of mine. So aside from wanting to say that does anyone else have any ammusing anicdotes concerning the original DQ? It doesn't nessasarily have to deal with the green dragon(though mine did)but here's the place to post them if you have them!

Ok the first time I played DQ1 (well DW1 at the time) when I finally got around the end, my friend fooled me by saying; "Yeah man, Erdrick's cloak is somewhere in that poisonous swamp in the south. Search around and you'll find it!" I spent 2 hours combing and searching every piece of overworld map in that swamp before I caught on.....DOH!

I actually did it at level 8 on my first run through way back in 6th grade. I decided to try it out on a whim, cast Sleep once and it didn't work. Tried it another time and lucked out.

Since your hero's stats are determined by the name you input at the start of the game, it would technically be feasible to defeat the Green Dragon at level 8. Accounting for the varying stats between one hero to the next, that very same level could be all but impossible for someone else. Needless to say, it's not an easy task. At that low of a level, coming out of the battle in one piece would amount to a battle of attrition...I would imagine alternating turns of attacking/using Hurt and Herbs. Sleep can sometimes work, but at that low of a level, it's quite a gamble...if it misses, you end up right behind the 8-ball from the very start.

By the way...it really sucks that the names I've used in the past always end up with crappy level up stats :(

My absolute favorite Dragon Warrior moment was when I was battling the Dragonlord for the very first time. This was the first RPG final boss I had ever faced, mind you, and I was really excited.
It was a bit of a tough battle, but I made it through with relative ease. I actually remember thinking that those funny stone golems were harder than the final actual final boss. But I shrugged it off.
Little did I know that some RPGs had bosses with two-flipping-forms!!
The music changed. This scary frikkin' giant purple dragon appeared and I gasped and dropped my controller.
I waited a couple minutes and tried to beat him(or her, think about it) and was thoroughly owned.

Good times~
